If you have read any of my previous articles, you will notice that I am very honest with my writing. I am so honest that in my article, “How to Pick a Detox Programme That Works,” I was critical to point out that the herbal mix in itself does not taste very pleasant. In fact, there is no sweetness to it and really does taste very herbal medicine like. Amrita Easy Detox do recommend that you blend or mix it with coconut water or fruit juice of your choice, but I have chosen to take this one step further. To help those out who are having trouble swallowing the taste, I have tried mixing it and blending it into three different juicy drinks and here is what I recommend.
First of all, if you live in the UK, my favourite brand for juices are Innocent. Their juices are of high quality, they tell you exactly what is in it, they are not from concentrate and have no added sugars or sweeteners of any kind.
The first mixture I did was with Innocent’s tropical juice. If you mix with orange juice, you get the same effect. So, once I mixed the powder into the juice, the juice turned brown and looked grainy. Upon drinking the concoction, it definitely tasted better than it looked. It was overall sweet, but there was a definite bitter and dry aftertaste. However, this was a bit more pleasant than mixing with coconut water and very easy. Blending the juice with the powder was ever so slightly smoother than when I mixed it together with a spoon.
For the second mixture, I used my son’s Innocent Kids Smoothie. So rather than using a juice, I thought I use a ready-made smoothie. I actually preferred this to the juice as I found that the powder mixed better into the smoothie. Still looked very brown, but it was thicker, sweeter, not as grainy and less after taste. Overall, it tasted more fruity and less like a herbal concoction. Mixing the herbal sachet into a ready-made smoothie definitely improves the taste and is quick. Again, blending vs mixing with a spoon didn’t make a difference. This is the version I preferred, especially if you are on the go and have less time.
Lastly, I decided to make my own smoothie. I used my Nutribullet to blend an apple, banana, and strawberries with the herbal sachet and water. This still turned brown, but it tasted the best. You could hardly taste the herbal sachet at all and there was no after taste. This was by far the tastiest as the herbal mixture blended in really well, so aside from the change in colour, you wouldn’t really be able to tell that there was anything else mixed into your smoothie. If you have time, I would make your own smoothie to blend the herbal mix into. You can also use any high-power blender.
Here you have it. Three additional ways to blend or mix your Easy Detox herbal sachets. Mixing with juices and ready-made smoothies is the easiest way and least time consuming, but if you are after taste then blending your own fresh fruit smoothie is the best way. A good middle ground is using a ready-made smoothie and simply mixing it together with a spoon.
