MYTH: Our bodies are naturally capable of detoxifying themselves. No additional detox is required.
REALITY: Our bodies need additional support to detoxify more than ever before.
So why even a low dose of daily toxin exposure is not safe?
Constant low level toxin exposure which the majority of us are dealing with leads to the accumulation of toxins in our body. Toxins are known to poison our enzymes, damage our organs and overwhelm our liver. Over time this can be responsible for many physical and mental health disorders. Playing a role in virtually all health problems including but not limited to chronic fatigue, digestive issues, headaches, hormonal imbalances, immune system issues, inflammation, insomnia, mitochondrial/energy disorders, pain, neurological issues, palpitations, skin issues, thyroid dysfunction, damage to DNA and to cell membranes. It is also linked with cancers, reproductive, development, growth, endocrine, neurological and metabolic health issues.
So with the myth that we are capable of detoxing naturally without needing any additional detox support the reality is that in today’s world our body needs as much additional support to detox naturally more than ever before as our ability to eliminate toxins is often compromised due to numerous factors including ironically the accumulation of toxins which disrupt our ability to detox naturally. The lack of nutrients due to poor diet, over eating as digesting our food takes priority over detoxification. Energy/mitochondria dysfunction, cell membrane dysfunction, inflammation, poor methylation and high stress levels associated with modern lifestyles, our body needs to be in a relaxed state to detoxify.
Detox treatments become necessary as our body’s own natural detox systems become overwhelmed. As remarkable as our detox systems are they have not evolved to handle the workload of eliminating such excessive amounts of toxins. The constant intake and accumulation disrupts our ability to detoxify, a process vitally important for protecting us from the harm toxins do to us which we know leads to poor health and disease. Detoxing efficiently is vital to maintain balance within the body.
It’s impossible to avoid all the toxins we come into contact with but we can support and enhance our natural detox capability by reducing our ‘toxic load’. Being mindful about what we are putting in and on our body. Avoiding the obvious toxins like cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Drinking adequate pure water to flush toxins out via the kidneys, increasing fibre to bind with toxins in the gut and get them out of the body. Providing the body with the right nutrients to stimulate and complete natural detox processes. Eating locally grown organic fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, grass-fed sustainably raised meats. Wild caught fish as opposed to farmed fish. Avoid processed foods and plastic packaged foods instead buy and store foods in glass containers to avoid endocrine disrupting chemicals. Use glass or ceramic cookware. Always check that your foods and products are earth and animal friendly, sustainable, certified organic and free of GMOs.
